I grew up inspired by the wild beauty of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, where my love for plants began. I learned to recognize native wildflowers, herbs and trees by scent and habitat long before I learned their names.
Guided by formal studies and hands-on experience in botany, chemistry, and herbalism and years working in the lab developing homeopathics, nutritional supplements and functional skincare, I set out to create a beautiful line of skincare products that honor the intelligence of nature –exceptional products I would reach for each day, nourishing for my skin and gentle enough for my children and family.
As a woman-owned, small-batch skincare company based in Seattle, we carry forward my family’s Ballard name — a line of strong women who believe true beauty begins within. We carefully source every ingredient as local as possible, craft each product with intention, and minimize our footprint, bringing love and beauty into the world, one product at a time.

For most of my life, I’ve been exploring how people communicate & interact with nature, specifically plants.
As a trained horticulturalist, chemist and student of herbalism, I began my journey with plants in finding my favorites among beautiful gardens, farms, forests, mountains & prairies, while making notes on the nuances of how, where, and why certain plants grew vibrantly, and others were uninspired.
I would observe the habitat, the plant itself, relate with the nomenclature, collect seed to bring back to my own garden, and through many trials, a collection of my own was established.
Spending most of my time in my own urban garden & in nature, has allowed me to cultivate a kindred relationship and deep understanding of medicinal plants; this I share through healing skincare.
This ongoing exploration of the plant world, combined with my 10 years of professional experience developing nutritional supplements & homeopathics, influences a sphere of “wellness” that I create in. A deep knowledge & application of letting food & herbs be the medicine drives the ethos in each product formulated.
Every single ingredient sought out has purpose. Relationships have been cultivated with organic farmers, small farms and sustainable suppliers so we know exactly what we are getting. The formula is precise and thoughtful. And the end result is a deeply nourishing product that feels luxurious on your skin.

Each product is made in small batches and packaged with intention & care. We typically ship from Seattle within 1-2 business days of your order confirmation while allowing for an additional 2-5 business days for your skincare to arrive to its destination.
Shipping is FREE for orders over $100. On items under this amount, we never charge you more than the actual cost to ship, and in many instances we cover the difference. At this time we are only shipping in the USA; International shipping is coming soon my friends!
As we are dedicated to Earth & sustainability practices, we use recycled and recyclable packaging materials. As for our skincare products, all glass & most closures can be recycled or reused at the end of their lifecycle.

It is important to us that you are delighted with our products and have a good experience with your purchase. Due to the handmade nature of our products, we cannot accept returns unless damaged or defective upon arrival.

Each small batch is carefully prepared in our studio for utmost potency using natural, unrefined ingredients which are ALWAYS without synthetic preservatives or fillers. All ingredients are organic and/or wild-harvested, and we support organic agriculture practices and farmers.
We advise regular use of Ballard Organic Skincare and products should be enjoyed within 6 - 12 months from the time you open each new bottle or jar. Under ideal conditions (dark & dry), each of our products can safely last well beyond this timeframe. Use your senses.
Ballard Organic Skincare is formulated without any synthetic chemicals, fragrances or heavy essential oils - usually a good option for those with skin sensitivities. However, if you have sensitive skin, test on a small area of skin BEFORE regular use to avoid an allergic reaction.
